The Firestik KW3-SMK is a high performance 27MHz antenna with a length of 90 cm (3 ft) with a 3-way mounting bracket . This versatile bracket allows mounting to both vertical and horizontal transom arms, railings or flat surfaces. The KW3-SMK is available in three colors; black, red and white.

The kit also includes a 5.5 meter (18 ft) high quality RG-58A/U Fire-Flex coaxial cable, complete with two screw-on PL-259 connectors . As an added bonus, the kit comes with a free stainless steel spring and a microphone holder.

Trim-to-Tune antenna

Precision Tuning for Optimal Performance The Firestik KW Series is the original Firestik CB antenna dating back to 1975, before the tunable tip (antenna top) was invented. Despite the advent of easy to tune models, the Firestik KW Series remains popular.

Adjusting a Trim-to-Tune antenna:

  1. Remove the cap.
  2. Using a knife, make vertical cuts in the tube at the top of the antenna (about 1 - 1.5 cm long).
  3. Unfold the tube to expose the wire coil.
  4. Cut a small piece off the end of the wire and push it back into place.
  5. Replace the cap and measure the SWR value.
  6. Repeat the process until the antenna is properly tuned.

Important Advice from Firestik

1. Requires a metal base:
The Firestik KW3-SMK is a ground-plane dependent antenna and requires a metal base to function properly. Not suitable for vehicles with composite materials or insufficient metal. Can be used as a base antenna if a ground plane is created.

2. Correct installation for a good signal:
Mounting brackets and antenna connectors must be properly grounded to the chassis. Powder coated, painted or anodized surfaces can be insulating and should be stripped down to bare metal when grounding.

Important:
All antennas, regardless of brand or type, must be tuned after installation. CB antennas are not plug-and-play devices and an incorrectly tuned antenna can damage your radio's transmitter.
