The Sigma LW40 HF QRO wire antenna is a versatile and powerful antenna, ideal for any serious radio amateur. At the heart of this antenna is the 9:1 UNUN, which provides the feed point for the long wire element and converts the impedance from approximately 450 Ohms to the 50 Ohms expected by your transceiver.
Features of the Sigma LW40 HF QRO wire antenna:
- Impedance: The 9:1 UNUN provides efficient conversion from 450 Ohms to 50 Ohms, which is essential for optimal operation of your transceiver.
- Connections: The UNUN has three connections: an SO-239 connector for the coaxial feed line and two machine screws with wing nuts for the wire antenna and ground connection.
- Easy installation: Mount the power point as high as possible, such as on a pole or wall, and stretch the wire horizontally or in another configuration that fits within the available space.
- Wide frequency band: The LW-40 works on all HF bands from 160m to 6m with a good antenna tuner.
- Rugged Construction: Made of non-kink polyweave wire, for long lasting durability.
Installation tips:
- Use a good quality 50 Ohm coaxial cable, preferably RG-213 or Mini 8.
- Connect the other end of your coaxial cable to your ATU and then from the ATU to your transceiver.
- When using a high-power amplifier, it is essential to place an external ATU between the antenna and the amplifier to prevent damage.
- Provide a ground connection with a wire to a ground stake to reduce static build-up and lightning strikes.
