IMAX2000 Facts

Connector on the bottom part of the IMAX2000:

When measuring with a multimeter on the UHF-Female (SO239) between the conductor and the ground, a short circuit will be measured. This is due to the special design of the MAX2000, which is different from most 'regular' antennas. This applies both when checking only the lower section and all installed sections.

Middle section of IMAX2000:

When measuring with a multimeter between the top and bottom of the center section, NO continuity will be displayed. This is due to the capacitor in the center section, which is needed to create a 5/8 wave antenna. Note: The Max2000 has a capacitor in the center section because it is a 5/8 wave antenna, while the A99 does not have a capacitor in the center section because it is a 1/2 wave antenna.

January 2020: Solarcon (I)MAX2000:

About 24 years ago Solarcon introduced the iMAX2000. But after a very short time the name changed to MAX2000. The movie company IMAX demanded that Solarcon change the name.

UPS recently changed their rules for maximum package size and is beginning to enforce them. The Max2000 box was slightly too large. The antenna was trimmed about 3cm to fit into the slightly smaller box. This minor modification to the 'outer sections' does not affect the performance or SWR of the antenna. The Solarcon Max2000 is manufactured in the USA.
