A reverse polarity coaxial connector is a variation on the standard connector in which the gender of the connector is reversed. Contrary to what the name suggests, "reverse polarity" does not refer to the signal polarity of the connector, but rather to the configuration of the center contact pin.
A reverse polarity connector has the same outer casing (like the threads of a plug) as a standard connector, but the center pin is reversed. This means that a reverse polarity connection has a male pin where a female pin would normally be, and vice versa. A reverse polarity plug therefore has a female center connection instead of the usual male pin. Reverse polarity is also indicated by the letters; RP.
Key features of a reverse polarity (RP) connector:
- Inverted center pin : Male pin instead of female, or vice versa.
- Compatible Housing : Fits standard jack or plug threads.
- Specially designed for specific applications : Often used in wireless networks.
These connectors are essential for situations where specific connections are required, such as wireless networking or other RF applications. Their unique design reduces the risk of accidental connections, ensuring more reliable performance.
