This connector is a reverse polarity connector. This is a variation on a standard polarized connector where the gender is reversed. The term "reverse polarity" does not refer to the signal polarity of the connector itself, but to the gender of the center contact pin
This reverse polarity connector has the same housing (body) as a standard connector (jack or plug thread), but the center pin has been modified to be reversed. So a reverse polarized connector has a male pin instead of the standard female type pin/connection and a reverse polarized plug has a center connection (female) instead of a male pin.
