Yaesu FC-40 antenna tuner
The Yaesu FC-40 is an automatic antenna tuner with 200 memory positions. The microprocessor-controlled network is designed to provide a wide range of transmission capabilities for various Yaesu transceivers, especially when used with an end-fed random wire or long whip antenna.
Using the transceiver's built-in control circuitry, the user can control the adjustment and operation of an antenna. The Yaesu FC-40 uses specially selected, thermally stable components housed in a rugged waterproof housing to ensure reliability even under harsh conditions.
Thanks to a carefully chosen combination of solid-state switching components and high-speed relays, the FC-40 can tune a wide range of antennas to a 2:1 SWR on frequencies ranging from 1.6 to 54 MHz, usually in less than eight seconds. The transmitter power required for tuning can range from as little as 4 to 60 watts, and the tuning settings are automatically stored in memory for later use within the same frequency range. However, the power supply design may not match frequencies near half the wavelength (or multiples thereof) of the antenna Element.
