The Yaesu FC-40 is a 200 memory automatic antenna tuner designed to perform wideband antenna impedance matching for many Yaesu transceiver models. The FC-14 has a microprocessor controlled matching network which provides excellent transmitting performance when used with an end fed random wire antenna or long antenna.
The FC-40 utilizes the transceiver's built-in control circuitry, allowing the user to control and monitor the tuner's automatic operation. The tuner is mounted close to the antenna connection point and features specially selected thermally stable components in a waterproof housing, ensuring high reliability under harsh environmental conditions.
A carefully selected combination of solid-state switching components and high-speed relays enables the FC-40 to tune a wide range of antennas within a 2:1 SWR over 1.6 - 54 MHz, typically in under eight seconds. Transmitter power requirements for tuning range from 4 to 60 watts, and tuning settings are automatically stored in memory for instant recall when the same frequency range is later selected. The FC-40 is designed for mains operation and may not be able to tune frequencies close to 1/2 wavelength (or multiple thereof) of the antenna element.
