The Yaesu FT-710 AESS is a compact HF/50MHz 100W SDR transceiver that comes with the Yaesu SP-40 external speaker. The configuration of the SDR circuit emphasizes the reception performance.
The Yaesu FT-710 is equipped with the same high-resolution A/D converter and FPGA used in the Yaesu high-end SDR transceivers. The dual A/D converter circuit configuration performs digital conversion processing using two A/D converters. The digital signal is combined by the FPGA to reduce overload and overflow of the A/D converters and improve blocking characteristics. In addition, random noise is added to the analog signal before digital conversion, distortion is suppressed by minimizing the quantization error during digital conversion by the A/D converter, and a dithering technology is used that improves IM (Intermodulation) characteristics . The overall performance of the SDR receiving circuit is excellent.
Acoustic Enhancement Speaker System - AESS
Acoustic Enhancement Speaker System is generated by digital processing. The Mid-Low Frequency Enhancement Speaker and the Side Speaker combine to create the dramatic overall audio frequency response and high-fidelity audio output.
Quick Memory Bank feature - QMB
The QMB function can be used to store special memory channels. A reminder can be easily recalled at the touch of a button. The Quick Memory Bank stores the frequency, mode, as well as transmit/receive settings, filter and other parameters, so that operation can start quickly and in the best condition without resetting when changing bands. Memory settings can be easily checked by showing the memory contents on the display. (up to 10 memory channels are available).
The front panel design emphasizes the operational efficiency and comfort of this compact transceiver with a large 4.3-inch color TFT touchscreen display, offering intuitive operation and excellent visibility. Primary controls are arranged on the front and centered above the VFO dial for operational efficiency and direct access.

- Intercept Point Optimization (IPO): The IPO function can determine the gain of the RF amplifier section to accommodate the connected antenna and received signal conditions
- IF Noise Blanker (NB): The FT-710 contains an effective IF Noise Blanker, which can significantly reduce the noise caused by automotive ignition systems
- IF SHIFT operation: IF Shift makes it possible to raise or lower the passband of the digital filter without changing the pitch of the incoming signal
- Automatic Gain Control (AGC): The AGC system is designed to help compensate for fade and other propagation effects
- Digital NOTCH Filter (DNF): The Digital NOTCH Filter (DNF) is an effective beat-cancelling filter that can cancel out some disturbing beat notes in the receiver's passband
- IF NOTCH Filter (NOTCH): The IF NOTCH filter is a highly effective system that allows you to remove an interfering beat note or other carrier signal from the receiver's passband
- AF / RF Gain / Squelch
- Automatic Antenna Tuner (ATU): The automatic antenna tuner is built into every FT-710. The ATU is designed to ensure that a 50 Ω antenna impedance load is presented to the last amplifier stage of the transmitter
- Parametric Microphone Equalizer: The FT-710 includes a unique three-band parametric microphone equalizer that provides precise, independent control over the bass, mid, and treble in the vocal waveform.
- Time-Out Timer (TOT): The "Time-Out Timer" (TOT) turns the transmitter OFF after continuous transmission for the programmed time
- Band Stack: The Yaesu FT-710 uses a triple-band stack VFO selection technique that allows up to three favorite frequencies and modes to be stored in each VFO band register.
